You can refuse cocktails.” Chloe and I shared a glance. “Refuse cocktails?” she said. “I don’t understand.” “You have us mixed up with your other friends,” I continued. “But, wait. You don’t have other friends.” “I have plenty of friends,” Peyt said. “Friends without penises. Or benefits.” She paused. “We’re not talking about me. I SO enjoy a good cowboy romance but Taming Him is WAY better than anything I could of dreamed up! Sexy with a swoon worthy Cowboy with a Southern drawl that made me want to melt and a sassy heroine an some wonderfully steamy times, some heart-racing times, and definitely some dream worthy ones too, Taming Him is a Top Read of 2018! 


I love all of Kennedy Fox's books, but I definitely have a HUGE crush on Taming Him! I like a good romance featuring a sexy cowboy, but this one is much more unique. The idea of a both River and Alex being on vacation and meeting and well, falling in love, is something I don't read about often. It made it more special and I loved all the banter, all the sexy interludes, and all the heart felt moments too. I could practically FEEL the chemistry and sparks through the pages and I treasured the heat and the heart.  This is a series I will easily be able to fall in love with again and again and still crave more. I am looking forward to the next book!

 MY REVIEW:

 WOW! The first thing I want to say about this story is how emotional, heartbreaking, and intense this story was. I literally cried within the first chapter and there were many more moments of me breaking down while reading. 

 I have read many books that left me heart shattered, but this one really made me feel TORN and LOST and ACHING in a way that really felt like it was MY heart breaking at the loss of such an incredible love. Yet while there was heartbreak and loss there was also moments of rising above the loss and feeling strength and fighting for a miracle that in its own right can make you stronger than anything you can imagine. I can't tell you all how much this book was unlike ANYTHING and I do mean ANYTHING I have read before. I suggest if you are looking for that one read that can break and remake you, this book is the one. 

 Don't Be Afraid gets a SOUL SHATTERING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

I buried my body beneath the covers and curled around his warmth. With my head rested just where he’d wanted it, I closed my eyes tight and willed the tears away. Doing my best to hide the emptiness consuming me, I concentrated on breathing evenly.

“Always loved you right like this,” he confessed. “Your body so close to mine it feels like we’re the same person.” 

I took deep breaths as I thought of all the reasons life was so damn unfair.

“Loved burying my face in your hair, just breathing you in.”

Those were the words most girls dreamed of hearing, and they made our love feel more solid and concrete. But hearing them now was like a slow form of torture, because they were tearing the small amount of control I had left in me to pieces.

“You were made just for me, Sawyer Cooper,” he whispered sleepily. “I truly believe that.”

I squeeze my eyes shut tighter as I curled into him closer.

“Forever my girl.”

Tears rolled along my cheeks as I did all I could to wipe them away before he noticed. I was thankful sleep had taken him over and he was oblivious to the shattering of my soul.
