Review of Death, Doom, and Detention by Darynda Jones

I am reviewing Death, Doom and Detention by Darynda Jones and I couldn't be happier doing a review for one of my favorite books of ALL TIME! I gave this a Five Stars do to it's witty dialogue, laugh-out-loud moments, the strong connection between Brooklyn, Lorelei, Cameron, Glitch, and Jared. These are some of the most memorable characters I have ever read. This is a YA book full of scorching passionate scenes even though there is no sex, it doesn't mean anything with passion so strong between Lorelei and Jared, you can feel the flames of desire all over the pages.

Blurb

The normal part of Lorelei MacAlister's life didn't just slip away quietly the day Jared Kovach  came to town. Nope. The normal part of her life shattered. It exploded. It burst into a gazillion shards of fleeting light.

It went out with a bang.
Goodbye normal.
Hello dark and eerie.

While her best friend, Brooklyn, is focusing all her energy on helping Lorelei hone her abilities, Lorelei is dealing with the reality that Satan's second in command has taken up residence inside her body. Oh, and the fact that she has a crush on the Angel of Death. But what a beautiful death it is. If those weren't bad enough, something sinister has come to town and it wants nothing more than to hear Lorelei's dying breath as it strangles it out of her. Thank goodness the gang has a supernatural champion. But what happens when the only being who can save them switches sides midstream? How can a group of misfits capture one of the most powerful beings ever created? And will they find out how to bring Jared back to them before it's too late?

Even though this book was a bit darker than the last one, it didn't stop it from being one of the most amazingly well-written books I have read in a long time. Lorelei is a great character full of courage, heart, and goodness. With just a touch of clumsiness too. Brooklyn, now she is fun. She has a knack for lifting her friend's spirits when the times get rough and she knows how to bring laughter to not just her friends, but to us readers as well. Glitch is another friend of both Brooklyn and Lorelei. He likes to skip classes but he is always there for his two best friends when they need a ride or someone to come along and provide moral support when they decide to do a little skipping or trespassing themselves. Cameron is a bit of a grouch. He is also a bit quiet at times and can always be counted on to protect Lorelei when someone is out to get her. Not to mention I think he has a bit of a thing for Miss. Brooklyn. Jared is a dark angel but boy, he makes the dark look GOOD! He was sent to earth to take Lorelei. And I'm not talking about a date. Nope. He was supposed to take her life a little early but he couldn't. He fell for this young beauty full of spirit and kindness. Now he is on her side, protecting her from demons and other evil things out claim her. Be careful of this Angel. He can knock your feet right under you with a smile and can crush you without too much effort. In this installment though, he gets into a bit of trouble and starts acting a bit more evil and not only wants Lorelei, but he is fighting the urge to harm her as well.  In the end they get him back but Lorelei realizes that she must leave her home town to protect everyone she cares about until she can figure out how to handle Satan's second in command. This was a incredible ride. I was constantly on the edge of my seat. Laughing at times, then crying at others. I even sighed dreamily along with Lorelei over the sexy Angel of Death. What a fantastic adventure! The third installment in this Darklight series, is Death and the Girl He Loves coming October and I can't wait for the final book in this incredible YA series.

Review for Tangled In Divine by Heather Rainier

I am so excited to finally be doing this review for this incredible erotic romance. For those of you that don't know, This is the 14th installment in the Divine Creek Ranch Series by one of the most sweetest author you could possibly imagine, Heather Rainier. It has everything you could possibly want. Sexy cowboys with hearts of gold, feisty women, and the most divine town in Texas.

           Blurb
Robbed of her family's legacy, Gwen Henderson blindly sets out to win it back. In Divine she finds employment until she rejoins the rodeo circuit for one more winning year. What she doesn't foresee is getting tangled up with two cowboys who have her yearning for life in Divine when her dreams are in Colorado.

Rolling like a tumbleweed through life, Julian Alvarez takes the chance to be with Gwen, knowing she can't stay permanently and his heart may be in ruins when she leaves.

Resigned to loneliness, Chris Potter believes his faults and lack of finesse may mean he'll spend his life looking out for others but never knowing love- until the day he sets eyes on a feisty cowgirl named Gwen.

Can she trade her dreams of life in Colorado for love in Divine, Texas-and is she even capable of leaving  the two cowboys who have stolen her heart?
Heather Rainier NEVER disappoints when it comes to steamy erotic romance with the sexiest cowboys on the planet and the amazing women they wrangle up. This installment is probably my favorite book in this series other then Divine Grace. Its so delicious and full of passion that had me squirming in my  seat. The barn scene is stuck in my brain as the most erotic scene I have encountered and boy is it DIVINE!!  Chris is about the sweetest guy full of laughter and he certainly is a perfect "woobie." Julian is sexy, and has just a touch of a Dominant in him that just makes you want to do something...naughty just to get a spanking. Gwen is a sweet, independent woman filled with so much passion and has such  a kind heart. She can't resist either one of these to-die-for cowboys and honestly, I can't blame her.  I want my map to Divine so I can find a cowboy or two and settle down with a bunch of great friends that make you feel both welcome and cared for. LOVED IT!! I had no choice but to give this book a FIVE STARS because of all the passion, sigh worthy moments, and sweet adventures. I already look forward to the next installment with bated breath.

Newly turned vampire and Scanguards bodyguard Oliver has trouble controlling his thirst for blood. Every night is a struggle against temptation, but when Asian beauty Ursula literally falls into his arms, he fears he will lose the battle over his inner demons and succumb to bloodlust.
Enslaved by vampires for her special blood, Ursula has just escaped her captors. She’s rescued by a handsome stranger, only to realize that he’s a vampire. He claims he wants to help her, but can she trust a vampire who’s not only lusting after her body, but also her blood?
Her promise to rescue her fellow blood whores compels her to join forces with Oliver and his colleagues at Scanguards.
Will her choice lead to her salvation or her downfall?

The Scanguard series is one of my favorite series by Tina Folsom and this book was no exception.  I loved seeing some of the older characters and the fact that they all care about each other just made that much more enjoyable for me. Oliver was such a wonderful memorable character. He is having issues controlling his hunger for blood and enjoys the "hunt" and isn't quite sure if he is ready to just drink bottled blood, that is until gorgeous Ursula comes along. Now he wants to control his hunger but controlling his lust for this sexy Asian beauty is a different matter not to mention trying not to fall in love with this sexy creature. Ursula is such a courageous woman. She escaped a prison where vampires were holding her and other women like her captive for their drug-like blood. When she ran into Oliver she feels something for him but fears for her safety at first due to him being a vampire as well. This book had all the right elements.  A great easy plot, sexy vampires and a damsel in distress beauty, and steamy love scenes. Oliver helps Ursula see that not all vampires are evil and Ursula helps Oliver fight his thirst for blood. What a great story! I gave this five stars and I believe this book deserved that and more.

Today's review is for Eternal Island by K.S. Haigwood. Don't forget to stick around after the review as I harass, I mean interview Mrs. Haigwood.

This is the first book in the Eternal Series and I enjoyed every second of reading this book. I enjoyed seeing the characters interact and all the havoc the newly powerful witch, Ariana seems to create as she learns about her powers. Abe was a true alpha male and the fact that he was a vampire just made it all that more sweeter. Rainey is Abe's witch and psychic that he keeps on hand for the Island and she is just a ball of fun and maybe just a tad bit of a troublemaker too. This story has fun, adventure, romance, and laughs in every chapter and I honestly can't wait to read the other books in this series. This was a EASY four stars!!

Please give a warm welcome to Mrs. Haigwood!

First off I would like to thank you for being here today and  I like to say how happy I am to have you here to interview

1. Have you always wanted to write?

Hmmm... Yes and no. The reason I say that is because writing was something that came so natural to me that I didn't
realize it to be something I could do on a daily basis and ever call it a career. It's more of a necessity for me, like a stress reliever of sorts. I've
only been writing novels for a little under 3 years now, though. Writing poetry was something I did as a child. I started reading teen novels as a pre-teen,
then quickly graduated to Y/A and adult. If it had words in it and it was fiction, I wanted to read it. I never even considered writing a book of my own
until June, 2011. After several years of my nose being stuck in a book everytime I got the chance, my dad said to me in passing one day, 'Why don't you just
write your own? Then the story will happen the way you want it to." Of course my response to that was, "I can't write a book." Then I got to thinking about
it more and more. Eternal Island was not the first book I self-published, but it was the first book I wrote.

2 How did you come up with your wonderful Eternal Series?

An idea popped into my head one day about a normal young woman whose destiny held anything but normal.
The idea wouldn't leave me alone. I'd wake up thinking about it, think about it all day, then fight with my pillow at night because I couldn't go to sleep for
thinking about this one thought. That was it, just one thought. After two weeks, I sat down at my computer and the story just flowed out of me. I didn't think
about it at all. It was like the characters of the story were just up there in my head telling me what to write. I never do any research for my books. I am 100%
panster, and I didn't even know what that word meant until just a few months ago. A panster is someone that never plots or plans anything; they just sit down and
write and write until a book is born. That's me.

3 Do you plan on ending this series anytime soon?

No. The Eternal series is already written through the 3rd novel and there are at least 3 more to come after that
one. I don't see an end as of yet. Me and Ella keep coming up with new ideas for future books. Oh, Ella is my co-author for this series. I wrote the first three
novels, but they needed some major help. Ella is an amazing writer and editor (my editor, actually) and, after editing two of my novels, I introduced the Eternal
series to her and asked her if she would like to help me make them as great as I knew they could be. I couldn't have asked just anybody to co-author with me.
In order for two people to be able to write a book together they have to think alike. Even though Ella writes Satire and Thriller, we still mesh well together. lol.
Maybe it's the fact that she writes in a different genre than me that makes it so easy for us to see things from different point of views. But my characters love
her and she can totally see what they are thinking and the emotions they feel. Just last week she ran an idea by me, then said that it would probably fit in nicely
in book seven. So, no, the series will be around for a long time to come. And why would it end? Eternal Island is a whole other world full of new surprises.

4. Can you give us any information on your latest book in the Eternal Series?

There is a long list of characters in Eternal Island, and they all carry over to
Eternla Immortality, and then some. Ariana and Abe play a main role in this book, too, but it focuses more on Rainey and her trials with love and... well, I will just
say that she has a lot of issues to work out. Some will seem like a curse, but could be a blessing in disguise.
Eternal Immortality will release next month. We are going over the last draft now, then it will go through beta reading and formatting, then on to publishing.

Thank you so much for having me, Marie

It was a treat to have you with us today. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone! This is my big day for my very first review on my blog and I am excited to say I am very pleased to review ConneXions by the talented Isabella LaPearl. This short story is only part 1 and wow, what a great first part it is!

Bound by hunger and torn by circumstance, she is catapulted into the pitch black until the hands of fate intervene.
Unyielding and determined, the deep touch of a mysterious stranger uncovers a soul shattering "connexion" that knows no bounds.
An intimate battle of destiny ensues, threatening to consume all that they have ever known.

I have to say for a short story, this had me completely intrigued. This was a easy 4 stars for me, because I felt like I WAS the character. The author made sure to write in a way where you felt, smelled, walked, everything yourself. It was great! It had just enough information in it to where it wasn't overpowering but kept me from going crazy getting more questions then answers. The character is very  memorable even though there isn't a name, (I think it adds to the mystery) the love scenes steamy enough to curl my own toes, and it had just a touch of humor too. I am looking forward to reading the other parts to this story and other books by this extremely talented author.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my first review. Feel free to comment and let me know what you think of this great book. I want to also thank the great Isabella LaPearl for letting me do my first review on such a fantastic story.
