Netgalley eARC Review - The Bite of Winter by Lauren Smith

BLURB:

She is theirs to claim. They are hers to save.

Zoey Blake is about as far down on her luck as she can get. A car crash took her parents, leaving her destitute and on the street. When she’s attacked by another homeless person, her lifeblood drains away as her fading vision is filled with the face of a handsome stranger.

Ian Kennedy, a century old Irish vampire, never could resist rescuing a stray. As a few drops of his blood heals Zoey’s wounds, he realizes she’s a sweet, tempting, flesh-and-blood woman. But there’s one problem. Connor, who made Ian promise decades ago: no more mortal lovers.

After another vampire murdered his soulmate, Connor O’Shea swore never to let amortal woman pay the price for loving him. Until he feels Zoey’s skin and tastes her lips. She makes him want to break that vow.

Zoey finds herself caught in their web of seduction. But as Christmas draws near andher grief deepens, happiness seems far out of reach. And Ian and Connor join forces to prove their love is sacred, special…and forever.

Warning: This book contains two scorching-hot Irish vampires, one lady with plenty of pluck but zero luck, naughty lingerie, and enough Christmas cheer to redeem even the darkest creatures.

MY REVIEW:

Two hot Irish vampires falling in love with a woman that desperately needs to feel cherished and safe who happens to be gorgeous and smart? A DEFINITE MUST READ FOR ME! Even though I liked this book the one thing that bothered me most was when the moment she wakes and starts to examine her wounds as well as starts to remember how she was rescued, Ian starts to make out with her and instead of feeling a little afraid, she was overly excited. I have a hard time picturing a woman who was attacked and almost died, just falling in bed with her rescuer right away. For me it was a little far fetched. But the menage style really had me forgiving the book and we had some small trials to work through so that to me, evened things out a bit.

All three characters were pretty amazing. Zoey is young and homeless and the only possession other then the clothes on her back, was the portfolio of all the art work she has done. She is a beautiful, passionate, and brave young woman who was lucky enough to find two strong sexy Irish vampires to call her own for not just the Christmas holiday but for all eternity. Ian and Connor are perfect heroes in my eyes. I loved their slight broodiness, their strong sex appeal and their brogues will leave you dropping your panties post haste!

This book was written really well and for the most part, I was satisfied with it. I gave this book a FOUR SHOOTING STARS! Even though I was a bit leery about the whole jumping into bed almost immediately with her heroes thing, this book had so much more to even things out. From the trials the three of them had to go through, to the sensual ride these three partake in was just beautiful and so very compelling.
