Ever since he rescued her from a dangerous kidnapper, Mystery Mullins has wanted Axel Dillon. When he returned her to her Hollywood father and tabloid life, she was grateful…and a little in love. Mystery wasn’t ready to let Axel go, even after the soldier gently turned her away because, at nineteen, she was too young. Now, six years later, Mystery is grown, with a flourishing career and a full life—but she’s still stuck on Axel. Disguised, she propositions him in a bar, and the night they spend together is beyond her wildest dreams. Mystery steels herself to walk away—except the sheets are barely cold when her past comes back to haunt her. Once he realizes Mystery isn’t the stranger he thought, Axel is incensed and intrigued. But when it’s clear she’s in danger, he doesn’t hesitate to become her protector—and her lover—again. And as the two uncover a secret someone is willing to kill for, Axel is determined to claim Mystery’s heart before a murderer silences her for good.

I KNEW I WOULD LOVE AXEL'S STORY AND I AM THRILLED TO SAY I WAS NOT IN THE LEAST BIT DISAPPOINTED!! The moment I found out Miss Black was going to be doing up a story with the sexy Axel, I knew damn well it was going to be a memorable story, and I am glad I was RIGHT. Axel has intrigued me ever since I met him a few books back. His dangerous and Dom like vibe, drew me like a moth to a flame. He literally made me melt and Mystery was just SO DANG PERFECT for this particular Dom. She is sweet, with just the right amount of sass, and her submissiveness to ONLY Axel is both astounding and amazing. Honestly, with the way Axel treated Mystery, I actually found myself jealous and envious of Mystery. From the moment he rescued her when she was a budding young woman from a horrible kidnapper, he treated her good, encouraged her, and did right by her. So years later when Mystery still couldn't him out of her head and she seeks him out wearing a disguise, and he finds out and goes after her for more, I knew that Axel would be my book boyfriend for A LOOOONG time.

The story was amazing and sexy and had me at the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. I loved how action-packed it was and how everything came together and had me biting my lip, dying to not only figure out the puzzle behind the threats to Mystery, but had me melting whenever Axel brought out his Dom voice. I not only melted right along with Mystery, but the sex was so hot, that I had to take breaks to cool down and slow my heart before I could continue.

Wicked For You threw me out of the water, it was SOOOOOOO GOOD! I am thrilled and excited to say I gave this book a SOLID FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It was spectacularly written! I am IN LOVE with Axel and Mystery's story and I can't for everyone else to read this and to see why Shayla Black continues to be the BEST when it comes to her Wicked Lover Series!

Brighter Than The Sun BookBlast with ARC Review!

BTTS Book Blast .jpg

Brighter-Than-The-Sun-by-Darynda-Jones-300.jpg

Blurb
All his life, Reyes Alexander Farrow has suffered the torments of the damned. Only one thing has given him hope: the woman who radiates a light that no mortals can see; a light that only the departed can see…
Told from his point of view, BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN chronicles the first time Reyes ever encountered Charley, and how their relationship has been the one thing that can either save him or doom him.

MY REVIEW:

HOLY INTENSE-NESS BATMAN!! Brighter Than The Sun is written from Reyes POV...from like the very beginning pretty much, starting from when he was in the horrible Earl's, "care". As I was reading, I found myself crying for Reyes, intrigued by all that he was and all that he went through and completely awed by Charlie, the one being that saved him, gave him peace, and brought real goodness to him. I mean this book will break your heart but at the same time, will have you completely understanding and appreciating Reyes in a WHOLE NEW LIGHT!

With every evil thing done to him, and because of who his REAL dad was, I found myself totally amazed by the person who he is today and his power and his almost complete selfishness. He did things to not only protect Charley (finally we get to see all that he has done for her) but to protect others...all because of the person Charley is. This book totally took my breath away as well as shredded my heart, and made me even love Reyes even MORE than I already did.

Darynda Jones is one of the most talented writers I know. Only she can put together a story that is heartbreaking and mesmerizing at the same time. Even though Reyes world was torturous for most of his existence,  I still freaking LOVED it! I mean its hard not to love a being who is out of this world sexy, and captivating and just plain wonderful. I loved finally seeing how Reyes came to meet Charley and seeing how things were from the other side of the tracks. A truly phenomenal story! I gave Brighter Than The Sun a STUNNING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its breathtaking, heartbreaking, and freaking fabulous! I am SO glad to finally get Reyes TRUE POV.

Excerpt
I’m curled in a corner of the basement, shivering like a little bitch and licking my wounds from the latest encounter, when I hear my sister crying at the door. I try to assure her I’m okay, but the edges of my vision darken and a beckoning light appears in the distance. I collapse and drift toward it. Weightless. Ethereal.
I always drift toward it.
Not literally. I’ve been locked in the basement by a psychopath. I don’t get out much. But mentally.
You should probably know that even though I’m twelve, the circumstances of my existence are not normal. The things that happen to me are not normal. The things in my head are not normal. And the light that I’m drifting toward, the warmth I feel from it, the . . . forgiveness for all my abnormalities, is as abnormal as I am.
I’m three the first time I see it, and in a very similar state. I follow it. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and drift toward the white-hot pinprick of light burning the back of my eyes. The closer I get, the brighter it becomes until, just when I think I’ll never see again . . .
. . . she appears.
This tiny being peeking out from between a lady’s legs. I don’t know what to think at first, besides I shouldn’t be looking between a lady’s legs. But she is dying, the lady, so I figure it’s okay. I wouldn’t look at her bad anyway. My head doesn’t always work right, but even at three, it knows not to look at a lady bad.
Anyway, she’s shaking. The lady. Not shivers like if she’s cold, but deep shakes like if something’s wrong. Her head is thrown back and her body is stiff. The nurses hold her down as a doctor pulls at the light. At the thing. The tiny being that was in the lady’s belly, and suddenly it all makes sense.
Not the light, but that whole “Where do babies come from?” thing.
It’s disturbing, but not so disturbing as the lady. One of the reasons my head doesn’t work right is because I feel what others feel. Could ever since I was a kid. A littler kid. I can feel other people when they’re mad or pissed or in pain. That’s how I know when to stay away from Earl. When to run and hide. It doesn’t always work, but it’s damned sure worth a shot.
But right now, I feel the lady’s pain and it hurts and I almost leave if not for the light. I try to catch my breath once more. To be near it. Near her. Just a little longer.
She comes out in a whoosh of baby and liquid and a light so bright, I can hardly see—and I’m mesmerized. Then the pain stops and I can breathe normally again. The lady is still. A solid, constant note sounds in the room, and people gather around her and the baby. Everyone except the man holding the lady’s hand. He is doubled over. His shoulders shake, and I realize the people around the baby—most of them, anyway—are dead. They’re people from the past come to see the light. Ghosts. Whispers.
Their faces are full of wonder, but they are blocking my view, so I push them aside and drift closer. She is wailing like babies do. Then she sees the lady. Her mother. The woman standing beside the doctor, looking down at her. I’d never seen anything like the emotion in the mom’s expression, and I think how it must be love, because it’s soft and caring and tender.
I’m glad for the baby and sad at the same time. The mother touches her face. The baby’s. Tells her to be strong. Stronger than she was. Then she kisses the man’s bowed head, and I think about how I didn’t know ghosts could cry. Then she does the impossible: She steps into the baby’s light and is gone.

ARC Review - Alexa's Warrior Mate by Lynnette Bernard

BLURB:

Alexa “Lexi” Gallagher is a soldier with great responsibilities. She led her six younger sisters and niece on a daring escape from Earth to travel to the world of Altavesta. Finding the man she was destined to love was not something she ever thought was a possibility.

Sebastian Mathieson is king of Altavesta. His duty is to his people and the worlds that the Guardian Warriors protected. His personal happiness had been shelved long ago—until that afternoon by the lagoon.

Lexi’s soul called to his. He knew without a doubt that she was his life mate. Touching her would begin their bondinh, increase their magic, and share their gifts. Claiming Lexi as his was what he wanted and needed.

The ancient prophecy of the warriors with violet eyes joining with the Guardian Warriors would be realized. Together, they would fight the evil that threatened many worlds. Peace would reign. Love, happiness, and babies would finally be gifted to the lonely king.

MY REVIEW:

Oh my goodness, this book was freaking fantastic! It had an almost futuristic/sci-fi feel to it, coupled with the delicious romance and suspense and jaw dropping action that will blow you away (in a good way) and have you on the edge of your seat.  Alexa's Warrior Mate happens to be a BRAND NEW book in Miss Bernard's BRAND NEW series, and I have to say, this new series will definitely capture a reader's attention with the characters, unique storyline, and fabulously written plot.

I liked the fact that from the moment you start reading, there happens to be some action going on for our warrior heroine, Lexi and her family. She is strong, confident and has some serious warrior skills! Now Sexy king Sebastian knows immediately from seeing Lexi that she is his life mate. It doesn't take long at all for Lexi to know its true as well. I felt the spark the moment these two meet, and the spark grew until it was a roaring fire, with heat, crackling passion, and steamy tension. The sex was incredibly yummy and I loved not having  a clue what would happen next. I haven't read a book quite like this one and I am definitely enjoying it! I can't wait for more in this new series.

Alexa's Warrior Mate gets a SPLENDID FOUR AND A HALF SHOOTING STARS! The book kept me on my toes, while the romance and suspense, had me biting my lip and had me panting for more. It really is a unique story that blew me right out of the water! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
